Josie

I met Josie in O.C. Maryland.
I watched him make hearts in the sand;
He made hearts with a driftwood pen –
Will I see him make hearts again?

I can recall the walk of boards;
The little games; the small rewards.
The tickets were not treasured things;
We only kept two trinket rings.

A ring for him; a ring for me –
Love lingers in my memory;
I felt like I
Could almost fly
From Josie's hand to jetty's end.
I dream about my O.C. friend.

The weather man has called for rain;
Signs of our love may not remain;
But I will keep my trinket on a string;
I will go back to O.C. in the spring.
